City of Needles, Colorado River Station Solar Carport Project

The City of Needles launched the solar carport project at the Colorado River Station to reduce municipal energy costs and demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. Designed to integrate renewable energy generation with public infrastructure, the project also provides shaded parking for city staff and visitors.

Project Development Solutions (PDS) provided full-service support across the project lifecycle—from early-stage planning and permitting through to final construction. PDS led the development of site-specific electrical and layout designs, ensuring optimal system integration with existing infrastructure and compliance with all local permitting and grid interconnection requirements.

In addition to technical design, PDS managed procurement, construction, and installation of the solar carport. Deliverables included a complete plot plan, stamped engineering drawings, single-line diagram, load summary, equipment layout, and full permitting documentation. The project was successfully delivered, enhancing the city’s operational efficiency and advancing its renewable energy goals.
