CCS Mini Demonstration Project

The Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Mini-Demonstration Project was designed to include two integrated efforts: a post-combustion carbon capture and storage system (Project 1) and an innovative CCS approach leveraging emerging technologies (Project 2). Both projects prioritized advancing solutions with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) above 7, aiming to validate their performance in pre-commercial, real-world settings.

Project Development Solutions (PDS) led the coordination and management of all feasibility-phase activities in collaboration with the client and designated third-party technical partners. PDS defined and documented the project’s technical and strategic objectives, maintained an updated stakeholder register, and facilitated alignment among key internal and external stakeholders. As part of the regulatory planning process, PDS identified relevant Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) approvals and permitting requirements, providing an early assessment of critical path items for compliance.

In support of facility planning, PDS gathered input on technical specifications, demonstration facility needs, and end-user expectations. The team conducted a comprehensive review of existing utility infrastructure, evaluated potential siting criteria, and assessed viable locations for project deployment, culminating in detailed site recommendations. Additionally, PDS developed scopes of work for third-party contributors, coordinated the review and integration of their findings, and validated key technical assumptions to ensure the demonstration project’s alignment with long-term commercialization goals.
